Cheesy Texas Toast

Perfectly thick, cheesy, and garlicky toast — great as a side or dipped into soups and sauces!

Ingredients

4 slices Texas Toast or thick white bread

1/2 cup grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend)

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

2 cloves garlic, minced (optional, adjust to taste)

Tips for Best Results

Bread: Use thickly sliced white bread or sourdough — Texas Toast from the freezer section works great!

Butter: Butter gives the best flavor, but margarine can be used as a substitute.

Cheese: Cheddar, Monterey Jack, parmesan, mozzarella, Emmental, or Swiss all work beautifully.

Garlic: Fresh minced garlic adds a punch — add more or less depending on how garlicky you like it.

How To Make Cheesy Texas Toast

Preheat your oven to 400°F (205°C).

Place the bread slices on a baking sheet.

In a small bowl, mix melted butter and minced garlic (if using).

Brush the butter-garlic mixture evenly on both sides of the bread slices.

Sprinkle grated cheese evenly on top of each slice.

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown.

Serve hot and enjoy!
