SLOW COOKER STICKY HONEY SOY CHICKEN DRUMSTICKS

This comforting, flavorful recipe blends classic American slow-cooked meals with Asian-inspired sweetness and spice. With minimal prep, the slow cooker does the work, resulting in juicy, tender drumsticks coated in a rich, sticky glaze.

INGREDIENTS

8–10 chicken drumsticks

1/2 cup soy sauce

1/2 cup honey

1/4 cup ketchup

2 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Chopped green onions (for garnish)

INSTRUCTIONS

In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, ketchup, olive oil, garlic, ginger, and chili flakes until well combined.

Season the drumsticks with salt and pepper, then place them in the slow cooker.

Pour the sauce mixture over the drumsticks, ensuring they are well coated.

Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or on HIGH for 3–4 hours, until the chicken is tender and fully cooked.

Preheat the oven to broil.

Carefully transfer the drumsticks to a foil-lined baking tray.

Spoon some of the cooking sauce over the drumsticks.

Broil for 5–7 minutes, or until the glaze becomes sticky and slightly caramelized.

Garnish with chopped green onions and serve.

VARIATIONS & TIPS

For extra heat: add 1 tablespoon of Sriracha or hot sauce to the sauce.

For a citrus twist: squeeze the juice of one lime into the sauce before cooking.

For gluten-free: replace soy sauce with tamari.

For added depth: stir in 1 tablespoon sesame oil.

No slow cooker? Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45–50 minutes, basting occasionally with the sauce.

Serving Suggestions: Pair with white rice, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, cornbread, or steamed vegetables. Serve with iced tea or lemonade for a satisfying family meal.
