Ingredients:

1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter

1 cup all-purpose flour

¾ cup granulated sugar

2 tsp baking powder

¼ tsp salt

2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

½ cup whole milk

1 tsp vanilla extract
Topping:

1 cup granulated sugar
-
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 ½ cups boiling water
Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish and let it melt in the oven.

In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder. Stir in milk and vanilla until smooth.

Pour batter over the melted butter (do not stir).

In a separate bowl, mix sugar and cocoa powder for the topping, then sprinkle evenly over the batter.

Slowly pour boiling water over the top (do not stir).

Bake for 35–40 minutes until the top is set and slightly crisp. The bottom will be gooey and fudgy.

Let cool slightly before serving. Best enjoyed warm with vanilla ice cream.
