Perfect Prime Rib


  • 1 prime rib roast with or without bone (any size)
  • Garlic powder
  • Salt
  • Pepper


  1. Preheat oven to 550°F (287°C).
  1. Make a rub of salt, pepper, and garlic powder, and apply it to the meat. Place the meat in a shallow roasting pan with the fat side up.
  2. Roast at 550°F, allowing 5 minutes per pound for RARE, 6 minutes per pound for MEDIUM, and 7 minutes per pound for WELL DONE.
  3. Turn off the oven at the end of the cooking time and DO NOT OPEN THE OVEN DOOR for TWO HOURS.
  4. At the end of the 2 hours, remove the meat from the oven to slice; it comes out perfect every time.
  5. This method also works the same with roast beef.
